This was the last image I took of an EWS class 90 hauling a VT express on the West Coast mainline. Taken on Tuesday 30th December 2003 the day before operations ceased (the weather was so foggy on the 31st that meaningful photography was impossible). Locomotive 90029 "The Institution of Civil Engineers" drage cousin locomotive 90008 dead in train north probably on an express from Euston to Liverpool Lime Street although because of the holiday disruption it is difficult to be absolutely certain.
